Where can you buy hair styling gel?

The gel I have is the bottle gel but the people in movies, tv, or even youtube videos whenever they style their hair they use gel or other products in little containers. Where can you buy that? And what is a good brand? I don't know if it makes a difference but I'm a male just in case it matter what kind I get.
