Hair Styling Question, Gel?

Hello, I was wondering what hair product actually keeps your hair in place? I used to use regular Red Ken hair gel, then tried spray, then spiker gel, then spiker glue, and now im on this Axe gel and nothing seems to keep my hair in place! This is how I want my hair to stay http://img19.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hairh.jpg and I style it but after a few hours i get an annoying part in my hair down the left side and my hair falls apart like there was no gel in it? Does anyone know of a particular product that works? I cant seem to get this part in my hair from appearing. Ive tried got 2 b glued my hair still parts after a while
