Is cod liver oil soft gels the same as the liquid form?

I was told to take Cod Liver Oil, but I cannot tolerate drinking it. I went to Whole Foods and bought the soft gels. Do you get the same benefits from the soft gels as the liquid form? And when is a good time to take it, and do I need to take it with food?

1. its the same old stuff. na you don't need to take it with food.
2. Yes, it's the same thing. I buy the softgels, but I pop them with my teeth and drink the oil because I don't want to have to digest the capsule. I think they taste great. BUT beware. Cheap oil may not be Cod liver oil at all. It may be from trash fish and coming from polluted waters. It's worth the extra pennies to buy pure Scandinavian fish oils.
