Does hair gel (styling gel also), kill your hair follicles or anyways possible damage your hair?

1. As far as I know, neither actually kills your hair follicles, but many products contain things that can do serious damage to your hair. Silicones and sulphates are two examples. A lot of ingredients in gels can cause dryness.

3. The product itself might not hurt it, but if you don't wash all of it out before you brush it, it might break causing damage to your hair.
4. I've never heard of such a thing, but it is conceivable that you could possibly plug up the follicles with gel if you are not very clean. If you left it on for ages, without washing and it caked on.. but even then, I think it would come loose. It's very hard to damage your roots by anything you put on the outside of the skin.
5. They can't kill hair follicles(As far as I thought.) But I do know for a fact that they can damage your hair.
