Gels

What hair products should my friend use?

My best friend has thick, straight, black hair and everytime he wash his hair he end up having an afro. Is there any hair products that makes your hair softer and less puffy when you wash them? He tried using moisturnizer and it didn't work that well. He is using VO5 volumizing shampoo. Is it good? He also used to gel his hair down so it doesn't look puffy, but he stopped and started using hair wax instead.

  1. Unless he sweats a lot he should only shampoo his hair twice a week. VO5 is not a good product, and he should stay away from volumizing. I would suggest he go to a saloon and ask a hair stylist they can give him a good product that will help, they can even suggest one from the drug store if he doesn't want to pay salon price. He also probally needs a better hair cut.
  2. How do you get Afro hair from straight hair? The last time I used VO5, it dried my hair. He should use something with moisturizers in it. And definitely not a volumizer. I know there are a lot of good products out there. I like the Aussie products myself. Your friend should also go to a salon and have his hair thinned and layered.
  3. Okay first of all, your friend needs to stop with the volumizing crap because that makes hair thicker, why do you think Rogaine has a line of it? Second, sorry don't know about much about making hair smaller, mine's more flat than anything, but maybe your friend could try horse shampoo? I've heard it makes it softer and smaller looking. Lastly, maybe he should talk to a 'hair care professional' about it, but just to as what type of crap to put in, not product names, unless he really is desperate to shell out 15 bucks per 16oz bottle of something you could find in a store or the grocery store or walmart.
  4. ha ha afro! ummm he should def. blow dry it! thatll help it a lot then use hairspray to keep it down! try it man
