Gels

Is there a danger that pain-killing gels applied to a joint could make you injure the joint more?

Pain-killing gels and ointments, are freely available, but pain is the body's warning system, so isn't there a risk of aggravating the injury?

  1. Yes, so use the medication to reduce discomfort but be very aware that some damage may have happened and allow time for healin.
  2. Read the label on the package. That should give you a clue and do some research and make sure it is not just by the pharmaceutical company. Find out why you have pain, what is triggering it? Gels can only disguise the pain, not cure it. Maybe a long term solution might be more beneficial than an instant relief?
